This experiment was conducted in Aomori, Japan, in 2002, to determine the appropriate amount of NPK fertilizer for non-tillage cultivated rice. The seeds of cultivar Yumeakari were sown in nursery boxes with fertilizer 40LP coated N60 (10 kg/10 a). Seedlings were transplanted to 4 plots and treated with NPK 6-18-12. Application rates were none (plot 1), 1.2 kg/10 a (plot 2), 2.1 kg/10 a (plot 3) and 4.1 kg/10 a (plot 4). The nitrogen content in soil and crop yield were measured.
