This experiment was conducted in Aomori, Japan, in 2002, to examine the correlation between the amount of nitrogen and plant growth on non-tillage cultivated rice. The seeds of cultivar Yumeakari were sown in nursery boxes with fertilizers N40-0-0-60 (10 kg/10 a) and NPK 5-5-5 (20 g/box). Seedlings were transplanted to 4 plots and treated with NPK 6-18-12. Application rates were none (plot 1), 1.2 kg/10 a (plot 2), 2.1 kg/10 a (plot 3) and 4.1 kg/10 a (plot 4).
