Heterosis for seed yield and its component traits in desi x desi and desi x kabuli crosses of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

Seven crosses of desi x desi (D x D) and 9 crosses of desi x kabuli (D x K/K x D) chickpeas, grown in Faridkot, Punjab, India, during rabi 2001/02, were studied to estimate the extent of heterosis over better parent and standard variety for grain yield, number of pods per plant and 100-seed weight.
