Influence of the availability of nutrients and irrigation water on the severity of brown spot and leaf scald in rice crops

Rice MG-1 was planted in 3 soil types and treated with 0, 100, 200 and 400 mg P2O5/dm3 under 3 soil moisture conditions. Brown spot (caused by Drechslera oryzae (Cochliobolus miyabeanus)) and leaf scald (caused by Gerlachia oryzae (Monographella albescens)) disease severity was studied. Seed infection at planting was 10% with D. oryzae and 6% with G. oryzae. Rice grown on soil with low organic matter had high brown spot and leaf scald disease severity.
