The behavior of the maize crop in different soil tillage systems and row spacing was evaluated in a study at Botucatu Campus, in Sao Paulo State, Brazil, on a dystroferric latossolic red nitosol. The treatments were constituted of the three soil tillage systems (conventional, with heavy harrowing and leveling; reduced with chisel plow and no-tillage) and two row spacing (0.90 m and 0.45 m), installed in a randomized block design, with four replications. The winter crop used was black oats.
