The inheritance of seed colour in chickpea was studied in parental genotypes BG 1006 (brown), BGD 112 (green), DG 843 (orange), DG 1360 (yellow) and ICC 8151 (white), and in the F1 and F2 generations of crosses between these genotypes. The brown testa was completely dominant over the green and orange testas. The F2 population of BG 1006 x DG 1360 segregated into 9 brown:3 orange:3:green:1 yellow, indicating the digenic inheritance of brown vs. yellow testa.
