Rhizome rot of ginger caused by F. oxysporum f.sp. zingiberi is a serious disease which causes tremendous loss to the cultivars in Bhandara district of Maharashtra. Solarization of soil by mulching with polythene sheet of 100 micro m thick increased the soil temperature by 6.0 to 12.7 degrees C more as compared to non-mulched soil. This heating of soil was found to be effective in controlling the disease, due to greater reduction in soil propagules of F. oxysporum f.sp. zingiberi.
