Mathematical prognosis for the choice of initial breeds from the genetic fund of silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) populations for selection and industrial hybridization

This experiment was done at the Sericulture Experimental Station, Vratsa, from 2000 to 2002, using 12 breeds from the genetic fund of silkworm populations (Vratsa 33, BC-1, Ogosta 1, Kom 1 (Japanese type), Vratsa 36, Vratsa 38, Vratsa 40, Vratsa 50, BC-2, Super4, Ogosta 2 and Kom 2 (Chinese type)). A complex assessment was made of the best hybrid forms. The promising breeds were Vratsa 33 x Kom 1, Kom 2 x BC-2 and Vratsa 50 x BC-2.
