Measurement and simulation of the moisture content changes in three-layer solid wood panels at different climates

Measurement and simulation of the moisture content changes in three-layer solid wood panels at different climates

Holz als Roh und Werkstoff 61(1): 8-12

Moisture content was measured at different depths within wood panels, manufactured from 3 layers each 20 mm thick, exposed to outdoor weathering under a roof and to a controlled climate of 2 degrees C, 90% RH. The results showed that e.m.c. inside the panels was reached after approx. 6 months for panels stored in a moist climate, whereas for panels stored outside under a roof, the moisture changes only occurred in the outer zones of the panel.
