Molecular and morphological characterization of wild and cultivated native Fragaria in Southern Chile

The genetic diversity of wild and cultivated native Fragaria collected from southern Chile were characterized using morphological characterization, as well as by enzyme polymorphism and random amplified polymorphic DNA analysis. Based on fruit colour, the accessions studied were grouped into 4 clusters. Seven to eight zymograms were observed for the enzymes tested, with the patterns corresponding to those observed for Fragaria ananassa.
