Molecular epidemiological investigation of LEE pathogenic island of Escherichia coli strains isolated from diarrheic weaned rabbits

Molecular epidemiological investigation of LEE pathogenic island of Escherichia coli strains isolated from diarrheic weaned rabbits

Chinese Journal of Veterinary Medicine 40(10): 6-8

The prevalence of EPEC (enterotoxingenic E. coli) strains with LEE pathogenic island positive E. coli strains was investigated in Shandong Province, China. E. coli was isolated from healthy rabbits and those with diarrhoea in Weifang, Qufu, Hengtai, Yantai, Laiwu, and Tai'an in 2000-03. PCR (polymerase chain reaction) was used for the presence of virulence gene eaeA.
