Physiological, biochemical and grain quality differences among japonica cultivars with different panicle types

Acta Agronomica Sinica 31(9): 1167-1172

Dry matter accumulation in grains, enzyme activities, chlorophyll content and grain quality were evaluated in japonica rice cultivars with curved (W-2), semi-erect (Lianjing 3 and Guanglingxiangjing) and erect (Wulianjing 1) panicles, grown under 4 N levels. In cultivars with erect panicles, the rate of grain filling was low during the grain filling period due to high grain density and number of grains per panicle.
