Nodal segments of W. somnifera were cultured in MS medium supplemented with different plant growth regulators. Callus formation was induced in MS medium supplemented with 2,4-D, benzyladenine (BA) and kinetin, with MS medium containing 1 mg BA/litre and 2 mg kinetin/litre inducing the highest callus formation. Adventitious root developed when the calluses were transferred to MS medium supplemented with BA and kinetin.
