At the Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture, Lithuania, during 1993-2000, a total of 650 winter wheat cultivars were tested. The susceptibility to powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis f.sp. tritici) and septoria (Septoria tritici and Stagonospora nodorum (Phaeosphaeria nodorum)) was evaluated and the tolerant cultivars were selected. The cultivars exhibiting the highest tolerance to E. graminis and Septoria tritici were of the West-European origin.
