Screening of some black gram and pigeon pea varieties for resistance against Meloidogyne incognita

A total of 128 and 102 genotypes, respectively, of black gram and pigeon pea, grown in earthen pots, were screened for resistance to M. incognita. Out of 128 genotypes of black gram, 46 were found to be susceptible, with gall index of 3.1-4.0. The remaining 82 genotypes were highly susceptible, with gall index of 4.1-5.0. Out of 102 genotypes of pigeon pea, 14 were highly resistant (gall index=1.0), 57 were resistant (gall index=1.1-2.0) and 27 were moderately resistant (gall index=2.1-3.0).
