Soil classification system in the world and application to agriculture and forestry. 2. Soil Taxonomy 2nd edition: outline and characteristics

Japanese Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition 75(6): 729-736

The Soil Taxonomy (second edition) was published by the US Department of Agriculture in 1999. In this overview, a brief outline and the characteristics of the first (published in 1975) and second editions are explained.
