Studies on drought resistance of different maize hybrids at seedling emergence stage and at seedling stage

Two tests with four hybrids were conducted to determine indices related to drought tolerance. In the seed emergence test, seeds in culture dishes were treated with polyethylene glycol (PEG) at 15, 10 and 25% or distilled water (as control). In the seedling culture test, seeds were sown in earthen pots and irrigated with clear water (as control) or 10% PEG solution from the 3-leaf stage. Differences in drought resistance were found among the four hybrids.
