The microspore culture of the interspecific F1 hybrids of rape (B. napus (B. napus var. oleifera)) and B. juncea was investigated. The embryo output of the F1 hybrids was related to the genotype of their parents. The 30-43% pollen fertility of the F1 hybrids had no significant effect on the embryo output efficiency. The donor plant age had significant effect on those hybrids with lower embryo yield and no significant effect on those with higher embryo yield.
