Study on bone morphogenetic protein receptor IB as a candidate gene for prolificacy in Small Tail Han sheep and Hu sheep

Study on bone morphogenetic protein receptor IB as a candidate gene for prolificacy in Small Tail Han sheep and Hu sheep

Journal of Agricultural Biotechnology 13(1): 66-71

The bone morphogenetic protein receptor IB (BMPR-IB) gene which controls fecundity of Booroola Merino ewes was studied as a candidate gene on the prolificacy of Small Tail Han sheep. Single nucleotide polymorphism of BMPR-IB gene was detected in both high fecundity sheep breeds (Small Tail Han sheep and Hu sheep) and low fecundity sheep breeds (Suffolk sheep and Dorset Horn sheep) by polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP).
