The feeding behaviour and running speed of pigs under various feed deprivation lengths and social environments were studied. Three trials were conducted. In trial 1, ten pigs were trained individually to run a course and eat their feed at the end of the activity. The pigs were deprived of feed for 1, 5, 10, or 20 h. In trial 2, five situations were examined. Two pigs ran and ate together, and both pigs were deprived of feed 5 h before the run (D5).
