The shearing properties at low normal stress and shear failure with inundation of compacted soil

The shearing properties at low normal stress and shear failure with inundation of compacted soil

Bulletin of the Faculty of Life and Environmental Science, Shimane University 7: 71-79

The compacted clay with D-value in the range of 95 to 85% was used to conduct direct shear tests at constant pressure ranging from 10 to 350 kPa under intact and inundation conditions. At low pressure range 10-100 kPa and ordinary pressure range 50-350 kPa, a considerable difference between the strength parameters c and phi of low pressure range and ordinary pressure range was observed at the intact condition and the difference becoming less at the inundation condition.
