Tourism in figures: Austrian and international tourism and economic data

Tourismus in Zahlen Osterreichische und internationale Tourismus und Wirtschaftsdaten: 84 pp.

Austria's tourism sector registered 27.4 million visitor arrivals and 116.8 million overnight stays in 2002. There was a continuing identifiable trend towards short holidays. Some 88,000 registered enterprises and around 500,000 people derived income from tourism. Catering and hotels alone employed over 173,000 staff. Tourism income from home and abroad exceeded the 14.1 billion euro mark, contributing 18% of GDP. Turnover grew ahead of the rise in overnight stays.
