Secretory canals were present in all the vegetative organs of E. senticosus. Epithelial cells differed from adjacent parenchyma cells by the presence of developed leucoplastidom that occupied up to 50% of the cytoplasm volume. Leucoplasts were of complex spatial configuration and contained various inclusions occupying almost 80% of the plastid section: large spheres with a fine-grain structure, starch grains, small opaque plastoglobuli, and bigger plastoglobuli of moderate electron density.
