An experiment was conducted on indica, japonica, and waxy rice to determine the relationship between amylose content (AC) and the activities of 6 key enzymes associated with starch synthesis. Similar trends in AC were observed for cultivars Zhe733 (indica rice) and Zhenong 104 (japonica rice), where the AC value was low at the early stage of grain filling and high at the later stage of grain filling. However, the AC value was not clear for Zaoxiannuo (waxy rice).
