A study was conducted on sorghum crop for three consecutive seasons (1996-1998) in Peshawar, Pakistan to determine the effect of crop residue management practices on soil water storage and yield components of wheat, and to store the soil moisture and reduce the dependence on irrigation water. The treatments include: (T1) no sorghum residues; (T2) sorghum residues shredded at reasonable length (10-15 cm) after harvest; and (T3) sorghum residues left as standing.
