The saponin content of P. notoginseng (P. pseudoginseng var. notoginseng) flowers was investigated (using dissolved ethanol) in 3 years, and in different areas in China. Pesticide (BHC and DDT) residues on the flowers were also detected using capillary tube and gas chromatography methods.
