Effect of age at first calving on the performance of black-and-white dairy cows with varied addition of Holstein-Friesian genes

Effect of age at first calving on the performance of black-and-white dairy cows with varied addition of Holstein-Friesian genes

Folia Universitatis Agriculturae Stetinensis, Zootechnica (47): 25-32

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of age at first calving (AFC) on the performance of dairy cows with various addition of Holstein-Friesian (HF) blood. The study included the measurements of milk yield (in kg), fat, and protein, as well as the percentage of fat and protein in milk for the first three lactations. Results revealed that the highest milk yield was recorded in cows with AFC of >28.1 months in their third lactation. The differences were significant at p<=0.01.
