Effect of paclobutrazol doses on nutritional and microbiological properties of mango (Mangifera indica) orchard soils

Paclobutrazol (2, 4, 6 or 8 g a.i. per tree) was applied as soil drench in mango (cv. Dashehari) orchards in India during September 2001, 2002 and 2003. The application of paclobutrazol at 8.0 g a.i./ha for 2 consecutive years increased the soil pH from 7.0 to 7.55. The soil organic carbon content decreased significantly under all treatments. P, K and Ca levels in soil increased at lower rates of paclobutrazol but decreased at higher rates (6 and 8 g a.i./ha).
