An experiment was conducted both in vitro and in vivo in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, during 2000 to determine the effect of sewage water on seed germination and seedling growth of Arachis hypogaea. Sewage water showed an average temperature of 24.9. The average chemical oxygen demand value observed in sewage water was 152.9 ppm. The conductivity of civic sewage between 480-1230 mmhos/cm. The organic C content in water bodies were mainly due to dead organic materials.
