Effect of temperature on grain filling and amyloplast development of high-quality mid-season indica rice

E-You 540, a high-quality mid-season indica rice cultivar with transparent endosperm, was grown in pots in an experiment carried out in 2003-04. The plants were transferred into a phytotron at the heading stage and cultured at 24 degrees C (26 degrees C/22 degrees C) and 33 degrees C (36 degrees C/30 degrees C). Samples were taken at 5-day intervals at the grain-filling stage to determine the water content of the grain and dry weight of the dehusked grain.
