The efficacy of cypermethrin (0.0075%), deltamethrin (0.0028%), lambda -cyhalothrin (0.004%), chlorpyrifos (0.05%) and monocrotophos (0.05%) against H. armigera infesting chickpea was evaluated in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India, during 2001. lambda -Cyhalothrin resulted in the highest seed yield (14.58 quintal/ha), gross returns (29 160 rupees/ha) and benefit cost ratio (8.64).
