Nine adult mongrel dogs of either sex were divided into 3 groups of 3 animals each. Six full thickness excisional cutaneous wounds (1.5x1.5 cm), three on either side of the vertebral column, were created under general anaesthesia in all dogs. The animals in groups I and II were treated with topical application of 50% seabuckthorn ointment (prepared by mixing 50 g of ground seabuckthorn powder with 100 ml of liquid paraffin) and 5% povidone iodine ointment, respectively.
