Genetic diversity of Flavobacterium columnare isolated from fish collected from warm and cold water

Phenotypic characteristics and intraspecies diversity of Flavobacterium columnare were analysed using 16S rRNA gene sequence and HaeIII restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). F. columnare were isolated from steelhead, coho salmon, sockeye salmon, kokanee salmon, catfish, baitfish, goldfish, fathead minnow and brown trout. At 22 degrees C, all isolates were capable of growing on all media tested.
