Genetic variability in the Argentinian Creole cattle of Patagonic origin

A total of 36 Patagonian Creole bovines were genotyped using 17 of the STRs marker sets recommended by FAO for bovine cattle germplasm characterization. Allelic and genotypic frequencies, PIC, FIS statistics, allele number (na) and observed and expected heterozygosities (ho and He) were calculated for each STRs marker. Haldane exact test for measuring deviations from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) was performed. HWE was found for every studied loci, except ILSTS6 (p<0.01).
