Growth and seed yield of onion (Allium cepa L.) as influenced by spacing and bulb size

A field experiment was carried out during 2000-01 in Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal, India, to study the growth and seed yield of onion Sukhsagar as affected by spacing and bulb size. Three spacing combination (30x30, 45x30 and 50x30 cm) and 3 bulb sizes (15-25, 30-45 and 50-65 g) were evaluated. The closest spacing of 30 cm x 30 cm had significant effects on height of the plant and scapes, length of leaves, number of days to 50% flowering, and seed yield/ha.
