Management of cowpea root-rot caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid. using plant growth promoting rhizobacteria

Management of cowpea root-rot caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid. using plant growth promoting rhizobacteria

Journal of Biological Control 19(1): 41-46

Five isolates (SVPF 1, SVPF 2, SVPF 3, CPPF 1 and CPPF 2) of Pseudomonas fluorescens were isolated from cowpea rhizosphere region and identified by biochemical tests. These strains were screened against M. phaseolina, the casual organism of cowpea root-rot, and the results revealed that SVPF2 isolate recorded the maximum inhibition of mycelial growth compared to the control.
