Necrotic ring spot and turf quality as affected by Kentucky bluegrass cultivar and species mixtures

Genetic resistance offers one possible control for necrotic ring spot (Ophiosphaerella korrae) of Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) turf. A field experiment was conducted in Idaho, USA, in 1993, to test 30 bluegrass cultivars in monocultures and mixtures with perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne), sheep fescue (Festuca ovina) or tall fescue (F. arundinacea) to determine necrotic ring spot (NRS) response, species persistence and turf quality.
