New changes in populational virulence of rice blast fungus (Magnaporthe grisea) in Sichuan province of China

New changes in populational virulence of rice blast fungus (Magnaporthe grisea) in Sichuan province of China

Southwest China Journal of Agricultural Sciences 18(3): 286-290

In field experiments in Pujiang county, Sichuan (China) and laboratory inoculation of the isolates collected from the whole Sichuan province during 2002-04, changes in the population pathogenicity of the rice blast fungus (M. grisea) to the hybrid rice were observed. After the inoculation of 118 isolates collected in 2004 on 20 tested restoring lines, at least 5 lines were infected by each isolate and 11.90% of the isolates were virulent to all of the 20 lines.
