North American perspective on using wood-based structural composite products as forest management tools to improve forest health and sustainability and to reduce forest fuels and exotic-invasive species

General Technical Report Forest Products Laboratory, USDA Forest Service (FPL-GTR-163): 2-8

Selective harvesting is now recognized as a critical tool in maintaining healthy and sustainable forests. Research is underway on developing value-added processes for manufacturing biocomposites from small-diameter timber, forest residue, and whole tree trimmings and from exotic and invasive species.
