Pre-infectional biochemical basis of resistance to late blight (Phytophthora infestans) in potato (Solanum tuberosum)

An experiment was conducted during 2000-01 to study the pre-infectional leaf biochemical constituents of 4 cultivars of potato (Solanum tuberosum), i.e. 2 resistant ('Kufri Jyoti' and 'Kufri Badshah') and 2 susceptible ('Kufri Ashoka' and 'Kufri Chandramukhi'), differing in their resistance or susceptibility to late blight disease (Phytophthora infestans). The cultivars showing differential reaction to late blight also differed in their biochemical characteristics.
