A preliminary study on spike-stalk brown spot of grape was conducted in Hami City, Xinjiang, China. The disease mainly attacked young, tender spikes, stalk tissues of grape fruit. Symptoms in fields always occurred during the last 10 days of May-June. The spores, spread by wind and rain, can survive winter on grape branch surfaces and tendrils of in bud scale pieces as conidia. In practical experiments, some grape genotypes were resistant to the disease.
