Safety and efficacy of a live attenuated West Nile virus chimera vaccine in horses with experimentally induced West Nile virus clinical disease

Safety and efficacy of a live attenuated West Nile virus chimera vaccine in horses with experimentally induced West Nile virus clinical disease

Proceedings of the 51st Annual Convention of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, Seattle, Washington, USA, 3-7 December 2005: 177-179

This is the first report of vaccine efficacy research in horses where clinical West Nile virus disease was shown in all of the control animals. These studies show that a modified live vaccine composed of a West Nile virus chimera is safe and protective against West Nile virus disease in horses.
