A direct antigen coating-ELISA was conducted on 34 weed species growing around sunflower crop to investigate the presence of sunflower necrosis virus in the weeds and to identify the thrips (Thrips palmi) thriving on the weeds. Seven weeds were positive for the presence of thrips and sunflower necrosis virus: Malvastrum coromandelianum, Abutilon indicum, Crotalaria striata Euphorbia geniculata, Phyllanthus niruri, Acanthospermum hispidum and Galinsoga parviflora.
