Shaping the meat content and the selection index value in performance tested young boars of different breeds depending on their growth rate

Shaping the meat content and the selection index value in performance tested young boars of different breeds depending on their growth rate

Prace z Zakresu Nauk Rolniczych 95(Suplement): 233-237

This study shows the effect of growth rate on the meat content and meat quality of pigs. Among the boars examined, only the Polish Large White boars with slower growth rate had significantly higher meat content. For Polish Landrace and Duroc pigs, high liveweight gain had an effect on carcass composition.
