Socio-economic effect of livestock operations on their neighbours in Ilorin metropolis, Nigeria: implication for extension programme development

This study examined the social and economic effects of livestock operations in Ilorin metropolis, Nigeria, as perceived by the neighbours of these farms. Interview schedules were used to elicit information from 124 neighbours of pig or poultry farms. The findings show that neighbours were under 40 years of age, and spent an average of 4.3 or 7.26 years close to pig farms and poultry farms, respectively.
