The Taliban and opium cultivation in Afghanistan



International Journal of Drug Policy 16(2): 79-80



This issue includes a paper that gives an overview of the history of the opium poppy in Afghanistan and the rise of the Taliban regime. A description of events leading up to, and constituting the implementation of, the enforcement of the ban on poppy cultivation in 2001, is provided.
