Succession status of old-growth spruce and spruce-fir forests in European Russia

Succession status of old-growth spruce and spruce-fir forests in European Russia

Uspekhi Sovremennoi Biologii 126(1): 26-48

The results of studying the spruce (Picea obovata) and spruce-fir (Abies sibirica) forests in the taiga zone of European Russian are summarized. The classification (typification) of dark coniferous forests was performed using modern quantitative methods of processing the geobotanical and soil data. The main parameters (structural and species) characterizing the diversity of the types distinguished were determined. The succession status of these types was assessed.
