Six new species of the genus Melanopleurus Stal, from Mexico and USA are described: M. nubilus, M. tener, M. villai, M. inflatus, M. barrerai and M. vazquezae. These new species are compared with other species of the genus. A key for the new species and M. complicatus, M. pyrrhopterus, M. brevis, M. tetraspilus, M. fuscosus, M. bistriangularis bistriangularis, M. b. marginellus, M. belfragei and M. bicolor is included. Wing polymorphism occurs in one of the new species.
