A larva of a spiruroid nematode of fish

A larva of a spiruroid nematode of fish

Acta Parasitologica Polonica 27(29-45): 387-390

A single larva recovered from a shrimp, Caridina rajadhari is described. It appears to belong to Neospinitectus Kalyankar, 1971. It resembles N. ophiocephali in general body measurements, in the presence of a cuticular ring and anteriorly directed spines in the head region, and disposition of the first 2 circles of spines in the anterior region. Its possible affinities with Spinitectus larva described by Johnson 1966 are also discussed.
