A modified alizarin red s stain for calcium in glycol methacrylate embedded sections of undecalcified bone

A modified alizarin red s stain for calcium in glycol methacrylate embedded sections of undecalcified bone

Journal of Histotechnology 10(3): 177-178

A modified method for demonstrating calcium in glycol methacrylate (GMA) embedded undecalcified tissues was compared with other conventional methods. We found that the combination of 2% alizarin red S and 1% aqueous light green as a counterstain yielded good preservation of morphology and consistent staining of 1.5-3 micron sections.
